Christmas Cheer with Taman Megah Home for the Handicap

There were smiles all round when Melia Kuala Lumpur turned up at the Taman Megah Home for the Handicap for a Christmas Cheer Tea Party. In the spirit of joy that Christmas brings, a team of associates led by Director of Operations, Mr. Adrian Prado brought food and Chase the Magician to amaze the kids! After a great performance by Chase, the kids enjoyed delicious food such as nuggets, sandwiches, noodles and milk tea prepared by Melia Kuala Lumpur's Cuisine Department.

A Merry MAG!

We had not one but two special guests at the year's final MAG. Ms. Zaitun our telephone operator who retired in January received her long-service award. The Christmas themed MAG was a barrel of fun with games, songs and numerous awards given to associates for their achievements at Tournaments, Sports and English classes. As it was Christmas, Santa Claus dropped in to the delight of all associates! We at Melia Kuala Lumpur would like to wish all readers a very Merry Christmas!

An Exhibition of Passion and Support

As part of our Community Involvement Initiatives, we are hosting an art exhibition by the Malaysian Art Centre in support of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). The exhibition was launched on the 14th of December and will end on the 21st of December. Launching the event was Yang Berhormat Dato' Lee Chee Leong, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. Members of the public are welcome to view and buy the beautiful paintings. All proceeds will go to the NCSM!

Joining Hands For A Good Cause

We recently joined hands with 12 other hotels to take part in the Malaysian Association of Hotels KL's (MAHKL) Annual Charity Bake Sale. The bake sale, which first began in 2007 has become a tradition amongst hoteliers in the city. This year cookies were sold to benefit the Monfort Boy's Home. As part of our commitment to the community we hosted the packing of the cookies and sold cookies at the Great Eastern Mall. All together, the bake sales in Bangsar Shopping Centre and the Great Eastern Mall raised over RM 11,000!

Treat for the Kids!

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Melia Kuala Lumpur treated children from Rumah Jagaan Titian Kaseh and Sunbeams Home as well as NGO, Malaysian Care to Barney’s Space Adventure Musical which came to the city recently. Melia Kuala Lumpur is the official hotel for the show and played host to the cast and crew during their stay in Malaysia. Over 70 tickets were given away to give the underprivileged children a rare chance to see their favourite purple dinosaur!

Cookies for Charity

Our Cookies for Charity is always an event our associates look forward to. The yearly tradition of baking cookies to be sold for charity first began in 2007. Since then associates have dedicated a day in December to bake cookies from scratch with their own recipes and of course some Tender Loving Care. This year, all Head of Departments and their assistants began baking the cookies from the get go and packed them too. The cookies are available for purchase at lobby.
